Flow recommends an air quality consult, or at the very least an air quality measurement device.
An air quality measurement device is an indoor air quality monitor that makes the invisible visible and shows you how to make your home as healthy, comfortable, and as safe as possible. It measures dust/particles, chemical pollutants, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, temperature and relative humidity.

Learn MoreHumidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. If there is a lot of water vapor in the air, the humidity will be high. If it's too low, the humidity will be low and it will be dry. Each of these cases come with their own set of concerns.
Every home is different, but a level between 30 and 40 per cent humidity is typically ideal for keeping your home warm and comfortable in the winter, without leaving condensation on the windows. In the summer, that level can be higher, between 50 and 60 per cent
Understanding humidity in your home can give you a picture of where you may have opportunities to make your place more energy efficient and improve your comfort.
TOO LOW
TOO HIGH
How do you know your humidity levels? That’s where devices that measure your home's humidity come in:
HYGROMETERS
An inexpensive measurement device that helps measure moisture levels in your air at home, so you have the right information to make possible adjustments.
SMART THERMOSTATS
Most modern smart thermostats come equipped with the ability to display the humidity level in your home. This is a nice feature but these thermostats typically cannot control it.
There are also devices to manage your humidity levels:
HUMIDISTATS
You may have a humidistat, which lets you monitor and control your home’s humidity level. Most humidistats are wired to a humidifier mounted right to your furnace, or they’re located on a wall elsewhere in your home.
They look and function a lot like your thermostat, but instead of measuring temperature and making adjustments, humidistats measure relative humidity in the air and turn your humidifier on or off in response.
PORTABLE DEHUMIDIFIERS
Most residential furnaces don’t have a dehumidifier function and only add humidity as needed. If your home is too humid, you still may need a portable dehumidifier to address it.
